When we talk about Alaska nightlife there are certainly a plethora of bars and restaurants to choose from. Pull up a stool at the local watering hole, Catch a live blues show, or dance at a lively club... there is something for everyone.

Bear Tooth Theater Pub - Dinner and a $3 movie. Order pizza and burritos from the full-service kitchen, delivered to your table in the theater. Draft beer and wine.

World Renowned Chilkoot Charlie's also known as "Koot's" is an Anchorage institution. Loud and crowded, with sawdust-covered floors. Vast beer selection, multiple bars. They have Live music and DJs, 3 stages and dance floors. This is a "must" visit when hitting Anchorage.

Club Paris -Established in the 60s, the same family still operates this local steakhouse. Club Paris is kown as a "fine steakhouse." They offer signature steaks and prime rib. It is worth every penny and bite.

Darwin's Theory - This is a hopping spot most nights, particularly in summer. A place known for its unique clientele, many of them seem to be regulars in this bar, with the result a warning against overindulgence. Despite that, this is a fun bar with plenty of young and seasoned people.

Glacier Brewhouse - Alaskas spot for fresh Alaskan seafood, grilled meats and hand crafted ales! Se;ected one of alaska's ten best secret spots by Travelocity.

Suite 100 - Restaraunt, Bar and Lounge - This restaurant is known for great food, fun and friendly atmosphere. 18 beers on tap, an extensive wine list, along with all the traditional and unique assortments of mixed drinks.Fabulous Oysters in a spectacular Bloody Mary mix... YUMMY!

Sullivan's-Chicago-style steakhouse offering one of the finest menus in town. The bar is fabulous with live entertainment on the piano. They have some of the best pineapple martinis ever to grace a bar!

Those looking for the in-city experience can visit the Alaska Sea Life Center in nearby Seward or the Islands and Ocean Visitor Center in the town of Homer.

The, Prince William Sound is located in the northernmost part of the Gulf of Alaska. You can visit Valdez, Cordova, and Whittier which are home to the popular cruises allowing visitors to see whales, seals, and sea otters.

Denali National Park, home to Mount McKinley, is Alaska's most famous destination. If you are coming in the summer I would recommend Denali State Park.

If you are into a rugged trip and your love for the outdoors outweighs your need for hotel rooms. The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is fantastic for those who want to see one of America's last
true wildernesses, while the Kobuk, Noatak, John, Kongucut, and Hulahula Rivers are visited by those who like to kayak, fish, and view the wildlife in their habitat.

New life springs eternal in Alaska

Some of the greatest moments of living in Alaska come when you realize that nature and man have truly collided. Today as I drove my daughter to Build-A-Bear workshop in the largest Alaska city, we came across a moose calf. The calf was maybe 2 days old. It was fascinating to watch. As I pulled up closer to the momma to get a picture, the baby instinctively hid behind its much larger counterpart. We have forgotten these roles of nature, our invasion into the space they once called their own. I am so thankful to live in such a beautiful place where in the heart of the city, life has sprung..

In all of my years in Alaska I have never seen a newborn calf in the city. It was an incredible moment for me, my two children and many other onlookers who stared in awe at the sight of this beautiful moment.

Another reason to visit or move to the great State of Alaska....
